I am a back-of-book and embedded indexer. My rates are competitive with industry standards, falling between $3–7 per page for a traditional back-of-book index. As a former bookseller, I have practical knowledge of the different ways that readers engage with texts, both when they are returning to a favourite topic and when they’re engaging with a new fascination.

In addition to bookselling, I’ve studied world literature and publishing, and have worn a few different hats in the publishing sphere—editing, book and eBook layout and design, and marketing among them. I studied indexing with Simon Fraser University and participated in the Mary Newberry Mentorship Program, where I was mentored by one of the ISC’s presidents. I read widely, both personally and professionally, often following whims and recommendations from bibliographies through a maze of related materials. I favour history, popular science, and literary criticism, and have experience indexing crafting and gaming books.
