The Indexing Society of Canada / Société canadienne d’indexation (ISC/SCI) is pleased to announce the 2026 recipient of the Tamarack Award. Brittany Vesterback (Surrey, British Columbia) is being recognized for her contribution and commitment to the society.
Brittany was chosen in recognition of the hard work and positivity she brought to planning and hosting three years of successful conferences.

Brittany’s colleagues had the following to say about her:
Brittany has been tireless in her time on the Conference Committee, stepping in wherever needed to make sure things got done so that our conferences always went off without a hitch. She has shown tremendous flexibility and willingness to roll with the punches when things (inevitably) snagged. Brittany is conscientious while being positive, warm, approachable, and focused on what needs to get done. Her ability to keep everyone organized and on task has been essential to making the last three years of conference so successful.
—Jolanta Komornicka, ISC/SCI past president
Friendly, considerate, collegial, Brittany! Over the past two years on, and then chairing, the Conference Committee, Brittany remained calm, warm, and organized. We could count on her to dash off a promotional piece, or to bring her previous publishing experience to the discussion.
—Mercedes Brian, Conference Committee volunteer
The time and attention that Brittany put into these conferences shows how much she cares about our members. It’s not just the engaging conference sessions that make these events successful. It’s also about the sense of community we feel when we’re there, and that’s because of Brittany’s friendly and welcoming attitude. She’s the ideal ambassador for ISC/SCI.
—Alexis Anderson, ISC/SCI Bulletin editor and co-president
We are thrilled to present this award to Brittany, and we are honoured to have her as a member of our society. Thank you, Brittany, for all you have given to the society and its membership.
The Tamarack Award was instituted to recognize members who go “above and beyond the call of duty” in their volunteer work for the Society. Past recipients can be found on the website.
