Heather Ebbs

An indexer, editor and writer for over 38 years, I have written hundreds of indexes in a broad range of subjects and styles.  I am a past president of both the Indexing Society of Canada and the Editors’ Association of Canada and have served in a great many other roles for both organizations. I’m the winner both of ISC/SCI’s 2011 Tamarack Award  and the Editors’ Association’s 1986 Fairley Award for Editorial Excellence. In 2018 I was given honorary life membership in the Editors’ Association. I’ve taught indexing, editing and publication production for various groups and institutions over many years and am currently an instructor for the award-winning course “Indexing: Theory and Application” for the University of California Berkeley. I’m currently semi-retired.
